As the Maggie Walker wrestling team moves closer to the conference tournament, the training becomes more difficult and regular season matches become tougher. But after boasting a record season last year, including the school’s first individual state champion in Joe Paul (’18), Walker wrestling looks to repeat its postseason success and possibly improve come state tournament time. Adding to this success were impressive showings at multiple invitational tourneys this winter. Paul earned 1st place in his weight class at four different events and was joined by Pierce Tarry (’17), David Winters (’18) and Cole Cummins (’19) at the top of the pedestal at the Massanutten Military Invitational and the Pioneer Duals. At the Battle of Dinwiddie, Winters and Cummins earned 2nd-place honors, while Ned Cooper (’18) nabbed a 3rd-place finish. Cooper also placed 2nd at Massanutten. MLWGS has one more meet before the conference tournament, which they will host inside the Maggie Walker gym on February 4th
