On Saturday, February 6th, the Walker Wrestling Team took on five other conference opponents for the opportunity to take home a Conference 33 championship. The Green Dragons lost by a narrow 40 points to King William, finishing in second place and clinching a berth in the 2A East Regional tournament. MLWGS finished first in three different weight classes (106, 113 and 170 lbs.), while placing second in three different groups as well (145, 152 and 182). Joe Paul (’18) and Ned Cooper (’18) won their lighter matchups, while freshman Cole Cummins (’19) dominated in the 170 weight class. Seniors Parker Mathew (’16) and Frankie Celentano (’16) took home silver, and both were joined by Donovan Reynolds (’18) on the podium.

Second place marks the best finish in school history at the conference level, paving the way for Coach Blanton and the boys to prove themselves at the regional level and hopefully advance to the team state tournament for the first time in school history.
